* Since the word 'kveik" refers only to Norwegian yeasts, and there are farmhouse yeasts in other countries, Richard Preiss proposed the term "landrace yeast" has been proposed to refer to all farmhouse-domesticated yeast. See also [[Landrace Farmhouse Yeast]].
